Experiences and traditions on the shores of Lake Poskijärvi
Kinkamon Pirtti is more than a holiday destination - it is a story that carries with it generations of tradition and passion for rural tourism. Located on the shores of Lake Poskijärvi in Keuruu, the Kinkamon farm combines cosiness, tranquillity and closeness to nature, complemented by the warm hospitality of Hannu and Mervi Lahtinen. Sini the dog, who is the farm's own happy guard dog and a guest favourite, is often there to greet you.
A chain of generations
The history of Kinkamo farm dates back to the 19th century, when it was known as the farmstead of the Ahola family farm. In 1927, Verner and Milja Kivikko acquired the Kinkamo farm and started cultivating it. Verner's trip to America in 1927-1929 provided the farm with the funds to build a house. This story is not only about the history of the farm, but also about perseverance and the pursuit of dreams - values that live on at Kinkamo Farm.
Since the 1960s, the farm has been run by Matti and Varma Lahtinen, and by the current owners Hannu and Mervi Lahtinen since 1981. In 1987, the farm decided to stop cattle farming and focus on other opportunities. Eventually, in 2002, the Kinkamo farm became a rural tourist destination, which has grown and developed over the years.
Craftsmanship and quality
Hannu Lahtinen's craftsmanship is evident in everything - all the holiday homes are built with his own hands from timber from his own forest. Since 2002, Kinkamon Pirtti has invested in the quality of its tourist services, achieving, among other things, the Quality Tonnes certificate in 2007. Cooperation with international operators such as Booking.com has boosted the popularity of the farm. Customer feedback in 2023, with an average score of 9.1, reflects a commitment to hospitality.
Experiences for all senses
Kinkamon Pirtti's traditional smoke sauna, completed in 2015, has won accolades for preserving tradition and providing a stunning sauna experience. Kinkamon Pirtti has twice been ranked among the top saunas by the International Smoke Sauna Association. In addition, the Elf Trail, reindeer and the Tentsile Experience Camp, which opened in summer 2019, offer unforgettable experiences for all ages.
Sustainability and the future
In 2022, Kinkamon Pirtti took an important step towards sustainable tourism by obtaining the Green Key label. This shows the farm's commitment to environmental responsibility and the preservation of nature for future generations.
